While it’s still pretty grey outside, we’re bringing in the brighter colours. As lockdown continues here in the UK, we could all do with a lift – and we all know how a bit of knitting inspiration can be good for the soul.
We’ve been thinking of pets for this issue. Without our little furry friends, many of us pet lovers would be stuck indoors – and let’s be honest, they bring us plenty of comfort and companionship too. Why not honour your cat with an intarsia cushion (page 34), or let your pooch strut out in style with the Nordic Paws dog coat (page 39)? As for you: our cosy dogwalking jumper (page 80) – with extra-long sleeves to keep your hands warm – gives you a reason to get outside, enjoy some fresh air… and show off your makes!
Of course we still have our usual great selection of fun, modern garments and bright accessories to stretch your knitting skills. Try colourblocking with our cover garment (page 15), or stranded colourwork with our reversible Sycamore Beanie (page 58). I for one cannot wait to get my needles stuck in to the gorgeous Cranberry Crosshatch Shawl (page 42), which combines lace knitting and a flattering colour for a perfect year-round knit.
We were excited to interview the Black Girl Knit Club this issue – turn to page 66 and we’re sure you’ll recognise them from the BBC! We also spoke to Mati Ventrillon (page 25) about her transition from London architect to in-demand Fair Isle knitwear designer, plus you’ll find some great Fair Isle pattern picks on page 72.
