You have the die-cutting machine. You have the dies. You have stunning paper that speaks to you and you're ready to get crafting! But what do you make? I can happily introduce to you a masterclass showcasing partial die-cut windows. This technique will hopefully give you the inspiration to create your own delightful festive scenes.

This is an extremely versatile technique that uses border and shape dies to create a partial die-cut window. It’s a great way to get a completely new look from your border dies. The card samples I’ve provided show how to utilise your dies with various shaped windows, including rectangles, circles and ovals to create the perfect festive card.

This technique is ideal for shaker cards such as Home for Christmas. You can easily add some acetate to the back of the window, throw in a few shiny sprinkles and you’re good to go!

The step-by-step guide will talk you through the technique and show how you can achieve this impressive look. I hope you will give this fun technique a go and enjoy creating festive cards that are sure to wow all those who receive them!

Die-cut several ovals from the same die you will create the window from – experiment with how many pieces of cardstock your machine will take

Adhere all the pieces together so they stack neatly on top of one another. This will create a raised surface that the borer dies will cut from

Place the layered oval on the reverse of the white sentiment panel and secure in place using Washi tape

Turn the panel back over, add the border die so it fits inside the oval and secure using Washi tape. Run through the die-cutting machine using the embossing folder platform

Secure the same oval die over the die-cut houses and run it partially through the die-cutting machine on the standard cutting platform

Ensure to only run through the top area above the houses as shown. Remove the cut out die-cut pieces
