Concertina Cards Tutorial

Then perhaps it’s time for you to ponder the concertina card. An absolutely fabulous display card with a concertina or fan-folded feature, these may look complex at first glance, but they are easily constructed out of a few pieces of folded card and can be decorated for just about any occasion. Keep your concertina makes simple with just a few strategically placed folds – or try being more adventurous and give a centre stepper concertina card a go. I promise, this will really wow the recipient! Read on to see how you can make these stunning cards with my easy-to-follow step-by-step guide.

1

Trim a 10.5x6.75” cardstock panel and score along the long edge at 1.75”, 3.5”, 5.25”, 7” and 8.75” then rotate and score the short edge at 1.75” and 5.25” from the first score line to the last score line

2

Using a craft knife and ruler trim away the inside rectangle starting from the 1.75” score line to the 8.75” score line to leave a scored frame piece – this is the outer concertina piece

3

Make a cut 7/8”, halfway between each scored square on the frame top and bottom

4

Trim another piece of cardstock to measure 4.75x7” and score along the long edge at 1.75”, 3.5” and 5.25”. Slot into the concertina piece as shown

5

If you’re happy, decorate the cardstock with patterned paper, leaving a narrow border on each panel. Add adhesive to the end panels of the outer concertina piece

6

Adhere the concertina pieces to the inside of a 7x5” card blank as shown
