Mechanical Cards Made Easy

What is a Slider Surprise Card?

Slider cards are interactive, kinetic card designs which feature secret panels inside. Once the recipient pulls the tabs, secret panels pop out of one or both sides or flip over to reveal a special message or a favourite image. It’s a great opportunity to be creative and to add your own personal touches – and it’s so easy to create an impressive-looking make.

In order for the panels to pop out smoothly it’s important to keep them fairly flat and free from embellishments but the front of the cards can be decorated and embellished as much as you like!

1

Trim a white 11.6x2.4” panel and score along the long side at 3.7”, 7.4” and 11.2” to create the card blank

2

Trim a cellophane bag to measure 2.4x11.8” and wrap it around the centre of the right panel of the card blank, securing the ends with double-sided tape. Add double-sided tape to the left edge of the cellophane then flip over and add another strip of adhesive to the right edge of the cellophane

3

Create two decorative panels from 5.5x3.5” panels of blue floral paper that’s been matted and layered with Designer Labels die-cut from blue pearlescent card and co-ordinating design paper

4

Adhere one panel to the left side of the cellophane with the right side facing up

5

Flip over and adhere the other panel to the right side of the cellophane with the right side of the panel facing down

6

Add a strip of double-sided adhesive to the tab on the card blank and enclose the decorative inside panels

7

Seal the edges together to make a pocket. Make sure not to catch the panels on the adhesive so that they can slide in and out freely

8

Matt and layer dotty design paper to the front of the pocket. Die-cut two Graceful Lace Trims from blue pearlescent card, adhere across the centre and add a strip of floral design paper across the top. Finish with a drop shadow die-cut sentiment in the centre
