It's always fun to find out the stories behind our favourite shops, so we sat down for a quick chat with Camilla from Knitting Needle Lane in Cambridge.

What's your shop called? Is there a story behind the name?

Knitting Needle Lane. The shop named after a street in Wells Next Sea, a regular family seaside location where we own a holiday house.

Where is your shop and what is the neighbourhood like?

Our shop is based in Cambridge, 20 minutes from the city centre.

Who works at your shop?

Myself, Camilla Carter.

What makes your shop special?

We are Cambridge's truly independent yarn shop. We stock a large selection of our own hand dyed yarns alongside other popular indie dyers and mainstream brands Sirdar & James C Brett.

What are your most popular yarns?

Manos Del Uruguay are very popular as you get free patterns with each skein purchased.

Do you have a knitting group? When do they meet?

Yes we offer Knit/Crochet natter every Sunday 2-4pm.

Whats your favourite piece of knitting advice?

Knitting has an amazing therapeutic property, it is wonderful for de-stressing and a sense of calm. Choose a simple no thinking project for stressful days and take some time to breathe into your project, the results are amazing.
