How To: Use your yarn checker to identify mystery yarn

Find your groove!
Do you have a mystery ball of yarn in your stash? Take a strand and see which slot it fits into best. The text underneath the slot tells you what weight the yarn probably is! This yarn is an aran weight and fits best into the aran groove.
Wrap it up
If you can't decide which groove the yarn fits into best, you can double-check using the Wraps Per Inch method. Wrap the yarn around the 1" indent as shown, count the wraps and check against the tool. This yarn wraps around 10 times so it's definitely an aran!
Quick check
You can also use the 1" indent to measure your tension quickly. Simply lay it on top of your knitting and count the number of stitches or rows in one inch.
