Materials required
Small teapot (tea for one!)
Plastic canvas
Wire (such as garden wire)
Hooks, 3mm, 3.5mm, 4mm
Scissors
Darning needles

Stitches and abbreviations
Ch- Chain
Dc- double crochet
Htr- half treble
Tr- treble
Dc2tog- double crochet 2 together (decrease)
Dtr- double treble
Sl st- slip stitch
St- Stitch
Yrh- yarn round hook
Standing stitches- a standing stitch can only be used when beginning with a new yarn, for example if your next row will begin with a htr, instead of sl st to the first st and working 2 ch you can begin directly with a htr as follows: place a slip knot on your hook, yrh, then insert the hook into the first st, yrh, bring the working yarn through, yrh, draw through all 3 loops, you have now started your row with a htr stitch rather than chains, this can be applied to all stitches, but remember you can only use it when attaching a new yarn to your work.
Wonderland Tea Cosy Part 4
In this part, we are going to tackle the tail, cups and saucers and the teapot! This will involve working with the wire (I used garden wire but craft wire will do also), as before, it can be a bit fiddly so patience is required!
The Tail
You will need Pink 992 and Juniper 701.
After Rnd 11, begin stuffing as you go with the toy stuffing.
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs. Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3.5mm hook and Juniper, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around. 12 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around. 18 dc
Rnd 4: Dc around.
Rnd 5: Dc around, change to Pink on last st.
Rnds 6-8: With Pink, dc around, change to Juniper on last st of Rnd 8.
Rnds 9-11: With Juniper, dc around, change to Pink on last st of Rnd 11. Start stuffing with toy stuffing and continue as you go.
Rnd 12: With Pink, dc around.
Rnd 13: *1 dc2tog, 2 dc; rep from * to last 2 sts, 2 dc. 14 dc
Rnd 14: Dc around, change to Juniper on last st.
Rnds 15-17: With Juniper, dc around, change to Pink on last st of Rnd 17.
Rnds 18-20: With Pink, dc around, change to Juniper on last st of Rnd 20.
Rnd 21: With Juniper, dc around.
Rnd 22: [1 dc2tog, 5 dc] twice. 12 dc
Rnd 23: Dc around, change to Pink on last st.
Rnds 24-26: With Pink, dc around, change to Juniper on last st of Rnd 26.
Rnd 27-29: With Juniper, dc around, change to Pink on last st of Rnd 29.
Repeat Rnds 24-29 another 12 times, sl st to join after Rnd 29.
Fasten off, leaving a 20cm tail for sewing.
You should have 16 Juniper stripes and 15 Pink stripes in total. Tail should measure approximately 55cm.
Cut a 1m length of wire and thread it through the tail, curl the end of the wire at the open end of the tail to stop it from going all the way through (see photo).
The Saucers
You will need Sunflower 978, Juniper 701, Pink 992 and Ice Blue 730.
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs.
Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
Saucer 1
With 3mm hook and Sunflower, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around. 12 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around, change to Juniper on last st. 18 dc
Rnd 4: With Juniper, *2 dc in next st, 2 dc; rep from * around. 24 dc
Rnd 5: *2 dc in next st, 3 dc; rep from * around, change to Sunflower on last st. 30 dc
Rnd 6: With Sunflower, *2 dc in next st, 4 dc; rep from * around. 36 dc
Rnd 7: *2 dc in next st, 5 dc; rep from * around, change to Juniper on last st. 42 dc
Rnd 8: With Juniper, *2 dc in next st, 6 dc; rep from * around, join with sl st to next st. 48 dc
Fasten off.
Rep for Saucer 2 with Ice Blue for Rnds 1-7 and Pink for Rnd 8.
The Cups
You will need Sunflower 978, Juniper 701, Pink 992 and Ice Blue 730.
Cup 1 starts with Juniper and is edged with Sunflower.
Cup 2 starts with Pink and is edged Ice Blue.
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs.
Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3mm hook and first colour, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around. 12 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around. 18 dc
Rnd 4: Dc in BLO around.
For the next 6 rnds you will be increasing the rnds by 2 dc, the increases should be randomly placed on each rnd.
Make an increase by working 2 dc in the same st to give one additional dc.
Rnd 5: Dc around, adding 2 sts. 20 dc
Rnd 6: Dc around, adding 2 sts. 22 dc
Rnd 7: Dc around, adding 2 sts. 24 dc
Rnd 8: Dc around, adding 2 sts. 26 dc
Rnd 9: Dc around, adding 2 sts, change to 2 nd colour on last st. 28 dc
Rnd 10: With 2 nd colour, dc around, adding 2 sts, join with sl st to next st. 30 dc
Fasten off.
Handles
You will need Ice Blue and Sunflower.
With 3mm hook, chain 14.
Starting in 2 nd ch from hook, sl st across. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew each handle onto its matching cup.
Tea
You will need Walnut 927.
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs. Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3.5mm hook, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around. 12 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around. 18 dc
Rnd 4: *2 dc in next st, 2 dc; rep from * around. 24 dc
Rnd 5: *2 dc in next st, 3 dc; rep from * around, join with sl st to next st. 30 dc
Fasten off.
Tea will eventually be sewn into Cup 1.
The Teapot
You will need Ice Blue 730 and Cream 812.
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs. Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3mm hook and Cream, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each st around. 12 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around. 18 dc
Rnd 4: *2 dc in next st, 2 dc; rep from * around. 24 dc
Rnd 5: Dc in BLO around, change to Ice Blue on last st.
Rnd 6: With Ice Blue, *2 dc in next st, 3 dc; rep from * around. 30 dc
Rnd 7: Dc around, change to Cream on last st.
Rnd 8: With Cream, *2 dc in next st, 4 dc; rep from * around. 36 dc
Rnd 9: Dc around, change to Ice Blue on last st.
Rnd 10: With Ice Blue, *2 dc in next st, 5 dc; rep from * around. 42 dc
Rnd 11: Dc around, change to Cream on last st.
Rnd 12: With cream, dc around.
Rnd 13: Dc around, change to Ice Blue on last st.
Rnd 14: With Ice Blue, dc around.
Rnd 15: *1 dc2tog, 5 dc; rep from * around, change to Cream on last st. 36 dc
Rnd 16: With Cream, *1 dc2tog, 4 dc; rep from * around. 30 dc
Rnd 17: *1 dc2tog, 3 dc; rep from * around, change to Ice Blue on last st. 24 dc
Rnd 18: With Ice Blue, *1 dc2tog, 2 dc; rep from * around. 18 dc
Rnd 19: Dc around, join with sl st in next st.
Fasten off.
Teapot Lid
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs. Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3mm hook and Cream, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch, 4 dc in same ch. 4 dc
Rnd 2: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around. 6 dc
Rnd 3: *2 dc in next st, 2 dc; rep from * around. 8 dc
Rnd 4: *2 dc in next st, 3 dc; rep from * around. 10 dc
Rnd 5: *2 dc in next st, 4 dc; rep from * around. 12 dc
Rnd 6: *2 dc in next st, 1 dc; rep from * around, change to Ice Blue on last st. 18 dc
Rnd 7: With Ice Blue, *2 dc in next st, 2 dc; rep from * around, join with sl st to next st. 24 dc
Fasten off. Join Ice Blue with sl st to top of Teapot Lid (see photo), work 5 open trebles like so: *Yrh, insert hook into st, yrh, pul (3 loops on hook), yrh, draw through 2 loops; rep from * 4 times, yrh, draw through all 6 loops on hook, sl st into top of Lid.
Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
The Teapot Handle is made the same way as the cup handles except increase chain length to 17.
Teapot Spout
With 3mm hook and Ice Blue, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 7 dc in same ch. 7 dc
Rnds 2-10: Dc around in a spiral as before.
Rnd 11: [2 dc in next st] 3 times, 4 dc, join with a sl st to next st. 10 dc
Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Pouring tea
Work in the amigurumi style, in a spiral without slip stitching or turning chs. Keep track of the first st of each rnd with a st marker or a long piece of waste yarn.
With 3mm hook and Walnut 927, chain 2.
Rnd 1: Working into 2 nd ch from hook, 6 dc in same ch. 6 dc
Rnd 2: Dc around.
Rnd 3: 2 dc in next st, 5 dc. 7 dc
Rnd 4: 2 dc in next st, 6 dc. 8 dc
Rnd 3: 2 dc in next st, 7 dc. 9 dc
Rnds 4-13: Dc around, join with a sl st in next st. Fasten off.
Now sew the handle and spout onto the teapot. Stuff the teapot, sew the lid on and then sew the tea into the spout.
Now that all the bits are completed, it's time to put everything together!
Sew the bottom of the tail on to the hat, you want the tail to come up the back of the hat, this is where the wire comes in handy as it allows you to bend it into shape, you can see from the photo where I have attached the tail to the hat.
Sew the juniper cup onto the saucer then sew this cup and saucer onto the top of the hat, sew the tail onto the side of the cup (it will help secure the tail, see photo). Then sew the round tea into this cup, I used some toy stuffing to give it some structure.
Leaving a 7cm wire tail, thread the wire back through the teapot. If you pinch the end of the wire through the side of the teapot once it's in place, this will be enough for the wire to stay in inside the teapot and not come out.
Part 4 is now complete!
