Twist and pop cards are absolutely delightful! They’re kinetic cards with an amazing 4-panel, pop-up element inside. When we first encountered these cards, we thought for sure some sort of engineering degree was required to make one. However, we were surprised to learn how easy it was to create a pop and twist card.

The possibilities for what you can make with these are endless. They’re perfect for any occasion! We used the Altenew Daffodil die set included with issue 188 (and free Altenew printables) to create this Get Well Soon card. The step-by-step instructions are in the video at the bottom of this post.

To make your pop and twist card you’ll need a 12″x12″ piece of scrapbook paper. We used this one from our stash. You’ll trim this piece into three pieces which will make up the card case, the pop-up element, and the 4-panelled element. But trust us! It’s easy breezy and you’ll be delighted with the results.

Cut and score your 12×12 paper into three pieces sized to the following measurements:

  • 4″ x 12″ and score at “6 (This will be your card base)
  • 3.5″ x 10″ and score at every 2.5″ (2.5″, 5″,7.5″) This will be the 4-paneled element
  • 3.5″ x 8″ and score horizontally along the centre at 1.75″. Lay this piece horizontally and mark at 2.25″ and 5.75″ at the top and the bottom.

Once you fold your pop-up element, add strong adhesive to triangles and adhere to your card as shown above. Open up your card and place adhesive on upper right corner and lower left corner of the pop up element. Restrict your adhesive
