The new Nuvo Glimmer Paste by Tonic comes in 12 colours and can be used on a variety of materials such as card, acetate, wood, fabric and glass which makes it great for many different creative projects. The paste adds a fabulous layer of glitter to any project and the colours complement each other wonderfully. The paste is full of glitter and has a texture consistency which adds a dimensional look to your cards when using the paste with the stencils. When the paste is applied to card, the adhesive in the paste bonds the glitter to the card and it will not rub off.

When using the paste with the stencils it is best to tape the stencil in place with low-tack tape to prevent the stencil from moving. Apply the Glimmer Paste with a palette knife and spread it through the stencil to get an even coverage. With the stencils you can create strip designs or cover larger areas.

You can use just one colour of the paste to create a monotone design or use the different colours together to create a blended colour through the stencils. To create the blended design I have mixed a little of the colours on a craft mat before spreading though the stencil to give a soft shaded look. You can use the stencils and paste on die-cut shapes.

When you have covered the stencil with the paste, run the palette knife over the whole stencil to give an even layer and remove any excess paste that can be returned to the jar. Carefully remove the stencil and wash immediately in warm water and scrub with a sponge or soft brush – do not leave the paste to dry on the stencil. The stencilled paste needs to be left to dry for at least an hour before using on your cards. It is a good idea to stencil a few pieces and have them ready to make a card when you need.

The pastes used with the stencils create lovely backgrounds and the main focus to projects, with beautiful dimensional glitter patterns.

Tape the template to the card with low-tack tape to hold in place. Spread Pink Opal Glimmer Paste through the stencil at one end with a palette knife, scrape off any excess and return to the jar and clean the palette knife

Spread Tanzanite Lavender Glimmer Paste through the stencil at the centre, leaving a narrow gap between the two colours

Take a small amount of Pink Opal and Tanzanite Lavender pastes and mix together on craft mat, spread through the template covering the gap left in Step 2 to blend the two colours. Save any excess paste in a separate jar

Spread Blue Topaz Glimmer Paste through the remaining area of the stencil, leaving a narrow gap between the two colours

Take a small amount of Blue Topaz and Tanzanite Lavender pastes and mix together on craft mat, spread through the template covering the gap left in Step 4 to blend the two colours. Save any excess paste in a separate jar

Remove the stencil carefully and wash immediately in warm water. Leave the stencilled card to dry then trim to use on the card front
