Stitched Together: The Wool Shop, Dalkeith

What's your shop called?

The Wool Shop. I figured people would call us that anyway as the shops on our street are known as the bakers, the butchers, the chemist etc even though they have proper names.

Where is your shop and what is the neighbourhood like?

It's in Woodburn, Dalkeith, on the outskirts of the town and within a housing scheme.

Who works at your shop?

Me, myself and I, unless it's not rugby season when my husband will do a Saturday. My daughter has started to help out for a few hours on a Saturday too.

What makes your shop special?

Me (only kidding!). Well, we're the only wool shop in our county and we try to keep a varied selection of yarns to suit everyone.

What are your most popular yarns?

Is there such a thing? One week it could be a baby yarn & the next a self striping fashion yarn. I've given up second guessing!

What's your favourite piece of knitting advice?

If you can knit & purl then no pattern is off limits. Just take your time. Don't let the pattern confuse you. Sometimes it's easier to understand it when you already have the stitches on your needles.

SPECIAL EVENT!

Don't miss the launch of the new season's yarn at the shop on Friday 2nd September, Find the event page on Facebook here.
