Sizzix has released a set of innovative tool sets and this one has got us excited! We’re putting the Sizzix Effectz Craft Tool set to the test and sharing a few tips and tricks along the way. The tool set comes neatly packaged in a cardboard box with a clear plastic insert containing one brayer attachment, two different sizes of a palette knife attachment and one handle with a removable end cap.

What's in the box?

Dual-ended handle
Short Palette Knife – perfect for picking up, mixing and applying pastes and paints
Long Palette Knife – ideal for mixing thicker pastes and creating splatter effects
Brayer Roller – gives even application of acrylic paints

Does it come ready to use?

The assembly of the tool is very easy and straightforward. Each attachment comprises of a small ‘insert & twist’ end, which you place inside the handle and turn to secure it. This feature allows you to change the attachments as needed when working on a project.

What are its features?

The brayer is quite small in size, which is a perfect for working on a smaller scale, especially for card projects. I find this very handy indeed! You can use it with various types of inks or paints. Have a cloth on hand and a craft mat when working with it and potentially a spare cardstock on the side for you can brayer off any excess ink or paint. You never know what a masterpiece this can become! Waste not, want not, as they say…
The two palette knife attachments come in two different sizes and shapes. The smaller one is perfect for building details and working on smaller areas. The longer and larger palette attachment is perfect for stencilling as you can spread a paint or a paste in one fast swipe, creating an even application. These are very handy in your craft stash if you like to create mixed media projects.

Is it practical?

The handle is designed to comfortably fit in your hand and has a non-slip silicone coating, which can be also easily cleaned. The handle has two open ends. This way you can choose to use two different tools at once just by flipping it over. Alternatively, you can keep the end cap on the end and just use one tool at the time.
The end cap serves a rather obvious purpose, but knowing me, I’ll probably use it to make marks in paint or even shaping petals for 3D flowers as its rounded end is perfect for this. To clean the tools, simply run it under a running water and wipe each part with a cloth. I love that the entire tool set is very compact and can be kept together with other tools in a desk, making it easily accessible for when the need for something more artsy kicks in.

## Did you know?
Sizzix has a few different craft sets including the craft knife/distress tool set and the handles are identical, meaning all attachments will be interchangeable and can be swapped and used to your heart’s desire. I recommend exploring these options and giving it a go!

How to: Get Started With the Sizzix Effectz Craft Tool

1

Step 1

To assemble the tool, simply insert the brayer end into the handle and twist to secure it.
