See-Through Die-cut Cards Tutorial

See through cards are a fun way to use dies and stretch your stash whilst making cards that are a little bit different. You can use background dies that almost create the card for you, but there are also ways in which you can incorporate other dies, even sentiment dies to create the effect.

I created a two different types of cards, the first type where a panel die is used to make both the front and the back of the card to make the card completely see though – if you make these you need to add a panel to the inside of the card to allow a greeting to be written, and the second type where the front of the card is see through and the rest of the design is on the inside of the card, showing though the gaps in the front of the card to complete the design.

You need to make sure that you use quite a heavyweight card for both designs to allow the card to remain rigid, and you may need to use a shim to allow all the die to completely cut through the cardstock.

With most of the cards you don’t need to add too many embellishments as the dies add the detail for you, I chose to use some simple adhesive pearls and a Wink of Stella pen to add shimmer and shine to the cards without distracting from the detail of the dies used to create them.
