As you may have spotted, the latest addition to CraftWorld is our Downloadables section. This includes an ever-growing range of digital downloads including magazines, sewing patterns, digi stamps, SVG cutting files and more. To help us make sure that everything is running smoothly, we asked the CraftWorld Testing Team to help us put some of the new collections of digital designs to the test. These are the results!

Super Stained Glass!

This collection of designs was first created by the Pretty Quick team for physical dies several years ago and was a huge hit with crafters. The dies are no longer available to buy but we love them so much that we just had to bring them back as digi downloads. Not only does this mean that the designs are available again, but they're also more flexible - you can cut the panel out at any size, from any material your digital cutting machine can handle!

Let's put these to the test...

Joycemckcraft

Joyce is a mum of three girls. She crafts in my spare time with cardmaking being her favourite craft. She also enjoys sewing and makes memory animals.

Here's her overall verdict:

"I loved the digi files. I already had two of the designs in metal dies the peacock and Rennie Mackintosh roses, but I am thrilled with files as I will now be able to resize them which is fabolous, when I get time."

"I found the files easy to use and had no issues cutting them or resizing. I plan to mess around with the dove and cross next as my youngests first communion is next year but that will have to wait until after Christmas now. Looking forward to trying out the rest too."

"These designs are all fab and will suit so many occasions. I do love the Rennie Mackintosh inspired roses but that is probably as I am biased as it reminds me of home."

Joyce's Cards

The file I tried was the image with the balloon and train. I used my Cricut Explore Air 2 to cut my designs. Importing files into design space was easy. I resized the image to fit my card size and cut a couple out one in green and one in white. I also sliced out some other sections and cut in other colours. Not perfect at slicing yet so did have to tidy up round balloon by hand.

The first two cards were then compiled by using different backing papers, paper piecing and colouring.

For the third card I made a different card blank by cutting and scoring then used backing paper from hunydory. Sliced a section of the main picture and cut this. Again cut some other sections in other colours.

For the fourth card I sliced out the balloon and cut the balloon and contour in a few different sizes. Embossed glitter paper and added balloons as baubles and a sentiment.

DebsyG

Debs is married with two grown up children and has a little faithful friend Alfie - a gorgeous Westie. She live in Dorset, in the UK and has been crafting for about 25 years. Her passion is papercraft, which she finds a real stress reliever.

Her thoughts on this collection:

"I used the Cricut Maker to cut out the files. I found using a light card stock easiest. I found also by using a light sticky mat easier as the images were very fine. The peacock was the easiest to cut out."

"I love all the files, and had such fun playing, but I did enjoy the “seaside” scene. Saying that, I did get carried away with the peacock and ended up making two extra. Big mistake as it was very hard to choose which one to send."

Debs's Cards

The windmill card was done with vellum and alcohol pens on the back. I used spray glue to attach the image. I did 3D the windmill and trees. So relaxing to colour in.

The fabulous sea scene was made by blending 3 distress oxides across some card first, then cut out. I blended distress oxide and a splash of water for the vase card then dry embossed with a wave folder. I made this into a “shaker” card.

The beautiful peacock was cut out of 180gsm textured card. The background was made using a selection of distress oxides doing the smooshing method. I made this into an easel card. The base card was again distress oxide and water.

MerryM

Lillian is the designer behind Merry Makewell Designs. She loves to explore her creative side through papercraft, cardmaking, digital craft and mixed media. You can follow her exploits on Instagram.

Lillian says:

"Thanks for the opportunity to try these designs. It was a lot of fun to see what I could do with them. My favourites were the peacock, rose buds and potted flowers. I really liked the scene designs as well and I intend to try a layered design with them, but I think that would be more suited to wall art than cards so I didn't try them in this case. In general I think I'd work at A5 or larger with these designs."

Lillian's Cards

I used the peacock design with a width of 8.5cm which fit an A6 card perfectly with a mat, but was on the small side for some of the cuts.

For the rose bud card I increased the width to 10cm and that worked pretty well.

Anna's Cards

I made this card using one of the mackintosh svgs. This is the Svg cut out twice from black card stock and layered between an acetate sheet where I coloured parts with Dovecraft 3D Pearl effects. I found these messy and incredibly sticky, as I’ve never used them before, but they dried amazingly well and I’m pleased with the resulting card. I didn’t add a sentiment as I didn’t want to detract from the gorgeous mackintosh inspired image.

A 6 x 6 circle card made using an Svg from the set I was sent to test. It’s a plain white card and the Svg is cut from white card stock with a sticky back photo paper sprayed in my diy mica mists to create a colourful background to the Svg. The stamped sentiment is from Stampin up.

I thought the mackintosh designs where going to be my favourite, but it turns out I loved this stained glass window one more! I found it extremely versatile and I cut it from acetate and used this to emboss silver and plain black card stock to create a back ground Tommy very tiny 2.5’ Svg cut outs. These bauble cards where made around 10cm x 10cm and I cut the stained glass window small enough to fit. It was brilliant to cut, even this small. I used a cricut to cut all of the svgs. I’m definitely a convert to making cards with svgs!

I cut out the air balloon scene twice from Matt silver heavy card stock and I used my own handmade mica watercolour paints and nuvo glitter markers to colour it. I added a tiny sentiment as I didn’t want to detract from the beautiful scene.

For the peacock I wanted the mirror card to shine through with all its dazzling colours so I used a Pearl card with gold shimmer for the Svg cut out, and layered it on top.
