Pledge to use British wool for your 2023 resolutions

British wool is 100% natural, biodegradable and also completely renewable. Wool also biodegrades in aquatic environments and therefore does not contribute to microplastic pollution.

Buying British wool also means you are helping to support over 35,000 British sheep farmers from all corners of the UK, as well as helping to reduce your carbon footprint, boosting agriculture and supporting our local economy. Identifying genuine British wool is simple – look for the Shepherd'[s Crook Mark logo displayed on the product packaging for quality and origin assurance.

In addition, unlike synthetic fibres that can leave you feeling hot and sweaty (as well as statically charged), wool fibres actively react to changes in body temperature, helping the wearer stay warm when it’s cold AND cool when it’s hot.

Did you know that knitting and crocheting can help you cope with mental health challenges? We’re big believers that crafting not only brings you joy but it has physical and mental health benefits too, including: helping to lower blood pressure, reduce depression and anxiety and slowing the onset of dementia.

Here are some resolution ideas from the team at British Wool:

1. Knit at least one project using British wool

2. Make a temperature blanket using British wool

3. Try a new breed of British wool

4. Buy a wool yarn that holds the Shepherd’s Crook Mark
