Pebeo Dyna stamping tutorial

Pebeo Dyna is a stunning mica-packed acrylic paint that works fabulously on both white and black cardstock, creating completely different looks, and is also great for a whole range of different techniques, some of which are touched upon in this feature.

Dyna paint has a high viscosity so is ideal for building up texture on your project either using a palette knife, or by pushing things (such as bubble wrap) into it. The paint also works well on a Gelli plate, applied directly onto cardstock, over dried modelling paste or even watered down ever so slightly and used to colour stamped images. When working with any acrylic paint you know it will obliterate outlines, even if you have heat-embossed them, so the step-by-step in this feature walks you through how to get a nice crisp outline on your images. This simple technique is made super easy when you have a stamping platform too.

It can often be difficult to incorporate black cardstock into your designs, especially if you’re like me and always plump for white cardstock – well I have found an easy way around that! Simply stamp your image onto white cardstock and, before adding paint, colour in the entire image (or parts if you want a different look) with a black alcohol marker! This mimics black cardstock, so when you add paint over the top, the interference colour will show through. With some paint this gives a dramatic difference, and the clue is in the name – all the Dyna paint products have a double name; the first indicates the colour that will show on white cardstock and the second indicates the interference colour.

This feature demonstrates a number of ways to use Dyna paint, but however you chose to incorporate it into your crafting, whether using them for the entire card or just for mica accents, have fun playing around and figuring out new ways to make them work with your existing supplies!

1

Use a stamp positioning tool and some waterproof ink to stamp the images, then leave the stamps exactly where they are on your stamp tool! You will need them again later

2

Colour the images using Pebeo Dyna paint. You can also try something different at this stage, by colouring the design with a black alcohol marker first, then paint over the top! This will allow the interference colour from the Dyna paints to show through and will give you a completely different look

3

Reposition the cardstock into the stamp positioning tool, re-stamp and heat-emboss the design using black embossing powder for a crisp outline. Cut out the images, leaving narrow white borders
