20 Curves using the curve template From Vlieseline
- Join the different coloured Dresden plates, alternately in groups of five. Press seams towards the darker fabric. (See pics B & C.)
- To join the curve, place RST with the five Dresden plates. Begin by pinning the two outer edges, then the centre, slowly work your way and pin. (See pics D & E.) Sew ¼" from raw edge.
- Remove pins and press towards the outer curve.
- With all four corners made, these can be joined to make the first block. Begin by sewing two blocks together to make the top row (see Pic F) and then two to make the bottom row, before joining the rows together. Trim to 16¾" square. (See Pic G.)
- Join all nine blocks together in rows of three, alternating the colours of the background fabric. (See Pic H.)
- To create the centres, use the nine Main Navy Sparke 4½" squares and nine Vlieseline interfacing F220 4½" squares. Using a Frixion pen, draw a 3" circle on the glue side of the interfacing. (See Pic I.)
- Place the fabric right side up, lay the interfacing on top, glue side up and pin. Sew along the draw line, then trim away the excess, being sure to leave a ¼" seam allowance. Cut away the interfacing inner circle, turn right side out and press (the interfacing will fuse to the fabric on the wrong side). (See Pic J.)
- Baste the top quilt to the wadding and backing piece (the backing piece here is made up of Tulips Navy and Rosa Aqua). (See Pic K.)
- Once the quilt is basted, the centre circles are appliquéd down as you sew through all layers. (See pics L & M.)
- Quilt using your preferred method.
- Bind using 1½" strips cut from the Stars Red fabric to finish.
