Our Editor’s Promises to You
As the editor of Knit Now, I'm often asked what it is that I think makes Knit Now special, or why a knitter should consider picking up a copy.
These are my promises to you, our readers!
All of our patterns go through five stages of expert checks before publication to make sure they are as clear and accurate as possible. Great patterns are at the core of everything we do and this is and will always be our main focus. If you need advice with a pattern, more photos or knitting tips, you can contact me and I'll help you out.
The best size range
I know from experience how frustrating it can be to see a pattern for a beautiful garment but then realise that it hasn't been written to include your size. All of our original garment patterns are written to span the range from a 28 bust to a 62 bust, around a UK dress size 6-36. If a pattern cannot be written to accommodate these sizes, I won't commission it.
An inclusive community
At Knit Now, we want you to feel included. We aren't interested in creating an exclusive clique of in-the-know knitters, whoever you are, whatever your background, we want you to feel part of the Knit Now family. This runs through everything we do, from the yarn we feature (at a range of price points) to the patterns we choose (at a range of difficulty levels).
We also strive to be inclusive when we choose our models, when you flick through an issue of Knit Now, we want you to see people who look like you and your family. We know that statements like only old people knit or only white people knit are untrue, and we believe that it's our responsibility to show that in our pages.
As a magazine we would be nothing without our designers. By buying Knit Now and helping us to stay in business, you are helping us to continue to support this community of creative and talented knitters. I will always do my best to be welcoming and supportive to all new designers and to offer fair terms. All designers are welcome to submit to Knit Now and every submission is looked at on an equal basis. If you are interested in designing for us, you can sign up for our designer mailing list here:
One of the first things we did as a magazine, before we even launched, was to sign up with the Campaign for Wool. I love wool and natural fibre and I'll do my utmost to promote its use in every issue.
I'm also passionate about the British knitting industry and as part of that, I pledge to include at least one pattern in British wool in every issue of Knit Now, and to publish one issue per year that is focused solely on British yarn.
