Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pens Review
Precious Metals set ( Colours: Glitter Gloss, Midas Touch and Blush Rosette)
I was very happy to be chosen by CraftWorld to test and review these pens, especially because I love to add a touch of glitter to all of my creations. The Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pens are the best pens that I’ve used so far! I can’t wait to show you what I created, but before that, let’s have a look at them...
Like I mentioned it above, the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pens were created to add a sparkling effect to mixed media, paper,.. Their brush nib makes the pen versatile, which means you can use them on small and large areas as well. You can also apply different pressures to control the amount of liquid released. The non drip reservoir is also very useful. I was expecting to find a ton of glitters in the cap the second time I used them, but it was very clean.
The package and the design are very pretty. You can also find the colour of each pen very easily because there are several labels and a colour indication on each pen.

I did some swatches on white, craft and black paper to see if the effect was different for each paper. The result was so beautiful and unique. The most striking difference is when using the Blush Rosette because it is less translucent than the other colours.
You can add several layers to have more glitters, but let each layer dry before adding another one. If you want to remove the sparkle, just rub it with your hand or dilute it with some water.

Then I used the Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pens with my Ecoline brush pens to create a background. It worked so well, the glitters only went above the areas where there was watercolour. It was so vibrant and I was able to see the shimmering effect effortlessly. You can basically use these pens on a lot of surfaces such as paper, mixed media, paper flowers,…

I also experimented with different techniques. For the bookmark, I directly applied the shimmer on the watercolour background, and for the card, I first put it on a blending palette and then applied it above the card. The result was exactly the same.
Another thing that I really like with these pens is that since they are translucent, you can use them with any colour. They won’t change the colour of your paint.
I used the Midas Touch on the cat ( above alcohol markers) and the XOXO, the Glitter Gloss on the two backgrounds and the Blush Rosette on the background of the card.

And as a final test, I wanted to letter with them, but I noticed that the result wasn’t beautiful because of the nib. Maybe they weren’t made for lettering... I would first letter the word with a brush pen, and go over it again with a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen.

In conclusion, I was very impressed by these pens. They are easy to use and to control. The range of colours is also very pretty and they can be used on different medias. I would definitely recommend them!
