Hi there crafty friends and Happy New Year to everyone!

The latest Paper Discovery die sets (Perfect Castle and Elegant Lantern) are meant to create 3D pieces as well as regular cards. But did you know you could use the certain dies from the set to make something completely different? Watch this!

I'll be using pentagon dies with tabs (the big and the small one) from the Elegant Lantern set to create party decorations of 2 different sizes.

STEP 1. Die cut each pentagon shape 12 times - that is the number you need to build a sphere (or whatever this complex shape is called).

TIP! You will need 3 sheets of 12''x12'' patterned paper to create a large ball. Cut each sheet in four. Then use a die to cut through 2 layers at one go. It means you'll just have to make 6 passes through the die cutting machine.

STEP 2. Fold down all the tabs on all the die cuts. It's easy to do since all the crease lines are already created by the die.

STEP 3. To be able to hang a ball you will have to attach a ribbon to it. So fold a piece of ribbon into a loop, tie up the ends and stick it down inside one of the pentagons like shown. The loop should stick out of the apex.

STEP 4. Attach the 3 pentagons together forming an apex where the ribbon is attached.

TIP! You can totally use the double sided tape or liquid glue but my favourite adhesive for this type of projects is a glue gun. It is super strong and dries in a matter of seconds! Simply apply the glue onto one tab then connect it with the other.

STEP 5. After you have 3 pentagons attached together the rest of the project is really simple since each next piece fits into its place just like a jigsaw puzzle. Just keep applying the glue onto tabs and attaching them to one another until you have a complete sphere.

The small ball is made exactly the same way as the large one. It takes just 1 sheet of 12''x12'' patterned paper.

The finished balls are about 9.5 and 4.5 inches - quite large and super quick to make! It's a great way to use up your patterned papers. Also, there are endless opportunities for decorating this balls. You can paint them or attach any embellishments that you have! I think I'll keep mine just as they are - simple and rustic. This is also one of the ways to do it!

TIP! The other die set - Perfect Castle - also has an interesting die in it - a five point star with tabs at the sides. This one is meant to create a roof of a castle but it can totally be used to make a beautiful 3D star which is 6'' in diametre. You can find a beginning to end tutorial on my YouTube channel. This star will be a great additions to the decorations we've made today!

Thank you so much for joining me today and for supporting Paper Discovery products! I wish you a happy and wonderful New Year 2021! See you soon!
