The annual Oldie of the Year Awards took place at The Savoy in London on Tuesday 19th October at a lunch time ceremony attended by VIP and celebrity guests.

Margaret Seaman (92) knitter of an extraordinary 18-foot-long knitted model of Sandringham, currently on display at the Queen’s Sandringham estate, was awarded the Oldie Champion Knitter of the Year Award.

Hosted by The Oldie magazine and presented by Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall and Gyles Brandreth, with judges including Dame Maureen Lipman and Rachel Johnson, awards celebrated the achievements of the older generation, both over the last year and throughout their long and distinguished careers.

Knitter extraordinaire Margaret Seaman’s 18-foot-long knitted model of Sandringham is currently on display at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. Not only a magnificent feat - two years in the making - but a charitable effort which has helped to raise funds for the three local hospitals in the Great Yarmouth area.

Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall said: "Here's to laughter, friendship and keeping a snap in our celery."

Margaret Seaman said: "All I can say about getting old is keep on doing what you like doing best, and then you’ll get older and older".

A huge congratulations to Margaret for her distinguished award!
