We have a fantastic issue awaiting you this month, with everything you need to make the most of your summer sewing!

Our cover pattern McCall’s 8104 is, quite simply, a stunner. Also known as the ‘Dawn’, this dress pattern comes with three beautiful views - all of which can be mixed and matched to create your ideal summer dress. On page 34, we show you how to hack this pattern to make a gorgeous fitted blouse where the star of the show is most definitely the sleeves!

Our second cover pattern with this issue is the Threadcount 2104. If you enjoyed this year’s Sewing Bee, you can now get cracking on your own paperbag shorts, trousers and skirt. The 2104 is an easy-peasy make perfect for beginners - but looks super stylish and put together. This pattern also has a lovely little vest which, if you’re starting out with sewing, will test your skills with interesting pleating on the straps and neckline.

We may have covered dresses, tops, skirts, trousers and shorts with this month’s cover patterns, but you didn’t think we’d stop there, did you? Inside, our indie designers have been hard at work creating stunning patterns to complete your summer wardrobe. Crafty Sew and So take us back to the 1990s with a retro slip dress - perfect for layering over a casual tee or under a slouchy cardi. Julia Claridge returns with a stunning bias-cut skirt - a must-have for every sewist’s pattern collection. And we are delighted to welcome Chinelo Bally, who shares the gorgeous peplum top from her new book Sew Chinelo - and shows us how learning to draft freehand is an excellent way to get into pattern cutting and design.

As always, our panel of industry experts are on hand with a hearty dose of advice and inspiration: Alison Smith brings us part two of her guide to bra making, Claire-Louise Hardie gives the lowdown on self-measuring, and Wendy Gardiner explains everything you need to know about blind hemming.

As if that wasn’t enough, we have some great reads this month from Elisalex on her indie pattern label By Hand London and from Lena King on developing her sewing style.
