KNITTING TUTORIAL: The knit stitch
We know everyone learns differently so we've got a video tutorial from Debbie Tomkies as well as a photo tutorial from Kate Heppell.
Insert your right-hand needle into the front loop of the next stitch on your left-hand needle
Wrap the working yarn around the tip of your right-hand needle. I'm showing this "English style", carrying the working yarn in my right hand and I tension the yarn between the fingers of my right hand. There's no real right or wrong way to hold your yarn and needles - play around with different options and find what's most comfortable for you.
Use the tip of your right-hand needle to pull the loop you just made in the previous step through. This is the main thing you need to get the hang of when you're knitting. I hold firmly onto the working yarn in my right hand and use a slightly hooking motion to pull the loop through.
The final step is to drop the stitch off of the left-hand needle. Your knit stitch is complete!
