KNITTING TUTORIAL: Provisional cast on
Use a secure provisional cast on so you can add knitting to the start of your work later, according to your pattern or to add length as needed.
1
Make a crochet chain several stitches longer than cast on. Knit 1 into each 'bump' for each stitch required. Work rows as given in pattern.
2
To place provisional cast on stitches onto needles, loosen the end and pull back the chain, 1 stitch at a time, placing each live stitch on your needle as you unravel.
3
Knit according to pattern instructions.
