1

This is a basic knitted cast off, which is worked with the right side of your work facing you, on the left-hand needle.

2

Knit the first stitch as normal.

3

Knit the second stitch as normal.

4

Using your left needle, insert the needle into the first knit stitch from from to back.

5

Lift the first stitch over the second stitch and over the tip of the right-hand needle.

6

Knit another stitch from the left needle as normal. You will only ever had 2 stitches on the right needle when casting off.

7

Repeat step 4, inserting the left needle into what is now the first knit stitch on the right needle.

8

Repeat step 5, lifting the stitch over the second knit stitch and the end of the right needle.

9

Repeat steps 7 and 8, until you reach the end of your row. You will have 1 knit stitch left on your right-hand needle.

10

Carefully pull this last stitch out to create a loop, taking care not to pull all the way. If you are knitting from a skein of yarn, cut the yarn now leaving a tail.

11

Insert the tail of the yarn through the loop and pull, securing your work with a slip knot.

You have cast off your knitting.
