Step into Spring: Knits Everyone Will Love
Spring brings a fresh start, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with knits that fit seamlessly into your wardrobe and home. From chic garments to quick and easy colourful accessories and toys, this issue is packed with knits everyone will love. Whether you’re crafting something for yourself or as a gift, these patterns will inspire you to welcome the season with vibrant projects that are fun to make.
January’s frosty days had us bundled up in cosy yarn creations, but now it’s time to shift gears! As the days get longer, we’re diving into stylish spring knitwear with lighter, breathable layers made from beautiful fibres that are perfect for the season.
Our cover star this month is a really handy tabard by Chloe Birch that can be popped on over warm base layers or light tees for a fresh and stylish statement piece. We love the delicate floral colourwork that can be knitted in your favourite hues from West Yorkshire Spinners delightful Bo Peep DK. On page 27, Jacinta Bowie has combined some of 2025’s hottest tones with her gorgeous chevron stripe jumper, while Kass Redding’s crop sweater on page 44 has been knitted in lovely hues of the lilac flowers that we will soon see in full bloom. And, if you’re a new knitter looking to make their first garment, or a pro after a super quick make, the Caron sweater on page 53 can be crafted in a matter of days. Plus, we’ve got a glorious colourwork men’s jumper from West Yorkshire Spinners.
We’ve also got a selection of accessories for you and your home, including the first in our new Yarn Review series which features a gorgeous one-ball knit from the needles of Sarah Neal in lovely McIntosh BFL yarn. Cristina Diaz has used simple mosaic stitch for her reversible houndstooth cowl on page 64, while Kelly Menzies is keeping our toes cosy in her simple stitch socks on page 34. You can give your bed (or sofa) a makeover, too, with the bird motif cushions on page 12 and the colour step cable blanket on page 38 – it’s perfect for practising your cabling skills and has been made in Stylecraft Special Chunky yarns, so it’s a purse-friendly option, too. If after all your recent gift knitting you have lots of scraps left over, we’ve got handy stash busters on pages 57-59. And, let's not forget Rolo Kitten! She's the second in our series of dress-up pals, and ready to join Gracie Foal who made her debut last issue.
This issue comes with a mini loom tool to help you make everything from pom poms and tassels to i-cords with ease – it’s an essential piece of kit for anyone looking to add their own embellishments to their makes. Plus, if you or someone you know needs to brush up on their skills, our supplement this issue is a back-to-basics skill builder complete with simple patterns that all knitters will love.
