With the festive knits done and dusted, it’s time to head into the cosiest season with some winter warmers to keep the chills at bay. Whether you’re relaxing at home or stepping out to immerse yourself in some woodland wonders, we’ve got inspiration to keep knitty hands busy this month.

Our wonderful team of designers has been busy crafting a glorious range of patterns to see you through December and beyond in cosy style. From jumpers and cardies to hats and scarves, there is plenty to pop on your needles during the winter nights.

For a warming woolly hug, Victoria Tyser has created our cosiest ever blanket scarf (page 42). It’s a lovely aran-weight knit in super-soft yarn – perfect for draping over your knees while knitting, but even better for staying snug on countryside adventures. And, if you’re looking for something classically elegant, Arianna Frasca’s neat puff-sleeved cable knit (page 17) is ideal for those occasions when smart-casual is key.

There is plenty for baby, too, this issue – Jane Burns’s deer motif cardi (page 53) is a triumph and her unicorn bootees (page 40) are amazingly cute. Kass Redding has been busy, too, and has created the sweetest textured stitch jumper (page 73) in a gorgeous WYS Bo Peep yarn. Plus, we think that no matter your age, you’ll adore Sachio Ishii’s Tigeropolis siblings, Matti and Bittu, and there is a woodland critters knit kit so you can get crafting straight away.

If you’re looking to expand you skills, we’ve got gorgeous colourwork patterns from Rowan and DROPS, plus the eye-catching Phoenix shawl from Bärbel Salet’s latest book – a real must-knit for anyone looking to add to their collection of heritage knits.
