When we stumbled across Scrumptious Collection Volume 2 on our daily scout of Ravelry (we were working, honest!) we fell in love with more than a few of the patterns. It was all we could do to blurt out our questions to the main maestro of Fyberspates herself, Jennifer Brown, who took shared with us what happened behind-the-scenes when shooting for these beautiful patterns.

What was your inspiration in creating and commissioning this collection?

We wanted something a bit more sunnier than the last collection, really for the type of thing you would wear in spring, but that was still fun and interesting to knit.

Why did you choose the designers that you worked with?

We choose the designers because they work in very different ways, they have different styles and therefore it means we get better variety across the designs, which makes the collection appeal to a wider audience.

If you had to describe the collection in1 word, what would it be?

Fresh!

What do you think makes a really great design?

A really great design is not necessarily how complicated it is, or how fashionable something it. Its about how it captures the imagination of the customer, and also how wearable it is. Sometimes the best designs are super simple And will get knitted over and over again because people can imagine wearing them.

What do you think is great about knitting with Scrumptious yarn?

It's supersoft, shiny and the colours are gorgeous and vibrant making it an absolute treat to knit with, and the colours make you smile.

Do you have a personal favourite design from the second collection?

I love them all, but I can see my self knitting Lyde, the hat by Lily Kate. This will definitely be my first cast on project from the book!

After the first Scrumptious collection was so well received, was there any of the difficult second pattern collection problem?

The first collection did so well I think because it appealed to so many different types of knitters, there was something for everyone, thats hard to replicate, especially with a smaller batch of patterns But I think there are complex and simple patterns, for all ages and small and larger projects, so fingers crossed people will love it!

Is there anything exciting happening in the world of Fyberspates this week?

The early part of the year is always about getting ready for trade shows, this requires lots or prep to get everything ready, this week I shipped the garments from the new collection to Lantern moon (our Amerincan Distributor ) for TNNA, along with books and shade cards, then I have to get ready for our first UK trade show Craft Hobby and Stitch at the NEC in feb, and then Handarbeit in Germany for March, very exciting! Apart from that we are preparing for our monthly shop update which we always have on the first Monday of the month, which means finishing of the last bits of dyeing, photographing and loading onto the shop.

If you want to knit anything from the collection you can buy individual patterns or get the entire collection for just 9from Fyberspates!
