Fussy Cutting Tips

What is Fussy Cutting?

When it comes to papercrafting, Fussy Cutting means cutting out a design from patterned paper or cutting out a stamped image. The term originated from quilters who chose specific patterned areas of fabric to highlight on quilts. Using the term is often a way of distinguishing between die-cutting using a machine or cutting by hand.

Many people find fussy cutting very therapeutic and relish the idea of fussy cutting out multiple stamped designs. As with most crafts, the act of crafting is often more important and rewarding than just the end result!

Whilst cutting out may seem like a very simple operation (most of us remember being taught to ise scissors as a child!), there are actually a number of ways to improve your technique and get better, more professional looking results.

In this short video, Lou Collins, designer and papercrafting expert shows you some simple tips.
