Furls Crochet Review
Introducing the new luxury brand for yarn lovers! We were so excited to get our hands on these stunning tools, we couldn't wait to try them out and find out why fans rave about them.
Furls crochet hooks first came onto my radar when I saw them being used by Toni Lipsey of TLYarncrafts. Toni is a woman of excellent tastes, and I usually trust her judgement but I really wanted to try them myself and find out if they're worth the hype!
About Furls Crochet
The company describes itself as "the world's premier provider of luxury crochet hooks and other fiberarts tools". They have a really unique range of tools, designed with hand health in mind. The company was founded by Harrison Richards, who designed the shape of the hook to fit into your hand, minimising strain and tension in the wrist and fingers. He started the business as a small Etsy shop in his parents' garage and and nine years later, the company now has over 20 employees and its products are loved by crafters the world over.

What makes Furls hooks different?
As far as I know, Furls were the first company to release a hook in this distinctive shape, which fills your hand and has a pleasing weight to it. They are so confident in their design that they offer a $500 hand-health guarantee as well as a lifetime warranty.
Who are they designed for?
The hooks are suitable for crocheters of any level, but they are a bit of an investment, so we recommend them for crocheters who already spend quite a lot of time with their hook.
What are Furls crochet hooks made of?
There are five ranges of Furls hooks, all made from different materials. Alpha and Streamline hooks are made from sustainably-sorced solid wood. Candy Shop hooks are made from cosmetic-grade resin with a coat of auto-body paint whilst the Streamline Swirl is just resin. Finally, the Odyssey hooks have a resin handle with a nickel-plated pewter tip.

The team at Furls were kind enough to send us a selection of their products for review. This post is not sponsored, but the tools were supplied to us for free. If you want to be in with a chance of winning this bundle, keep your eye out for a giveaway!
This bundle included a range of different goodies, including knitting needles, a Tunisian crochet hook, cute necklaces, yarn and a needle holder but I'm going to concentrate my review on the hooks themselves.
Pros of Furls crochet hooks
- The hooks feel so smooth in your hand, and the hook itself is super slick, making it really easy to work each crochet stitch.
- They have a nice weight to them - enough to feel comfortable but not so much that it puts any strain on your hands.
- Furls hooks come in a beautiful range of colours and finishes, meaning you can find a hook to suit your personality.

Cons of Furls crochet hooks
- There's no getting away from the fact that they are a premium price - but you get what you pay for. The hooks really do feel like they're worth the price, especially if you can get a cheeky discount code!
- They work well if you hold your hook in one of the standard ways, but if you're an idiosyncratic crocheter, this shape might not be for you.
Are Furls crochet hooks worth it?
Well this is the big question isn't it! When everything is weighed up I would say that yes they are - but I spend a lot of my time crocheting so I feel like I can justify it. I'd recommend starting with whatever hook size you use the most often and if you find that you keep reaching for this hook, expand your collection into other sizes.
