You can create beautiful shiny backgrounds for your designs using your stencils and stamps with Deco Foil Transfer Gel, Transfer Sheets and a hot laminator.

When using stencils with the gel and foils try to get a smooth even coverage of the gel by applying over the stencil with a palette knife. The gel is white when first applied and needs to be set aside to dry before foiling. The gel will go completely clear when it is fully dry. Using stencils gives a really solid foiled result with dimension because you have a thick layer of the transfer gel for the foil to stick to.

You can also use the gel with stamps though you may not get a perfect stamped image and the results are more of a ‘shabby’ style. Use the gel to ‘ink’ the stamp by applying with a small sponge and dabbing the gel onto the stamp. Try to get an even coverage and work quite quickly as the gel will begin to dry.

Once the gel is dry add the foiling using a hot laminator. You can then use the foiled pieces as background pieces or die-cut them to use as embellishments on your cards.

1

Use masking tape to secure the stencil in place onto a piece of lilac Centura Pearl cardstock

2

Apply the transfer gel across the stencil using a palette knife. Remove any excess gel by gently pulling the knife flat across the surface and returning the excel gel to the container

3

Carefully remove the stencil, place the card blank to one side to dry and wash the gel off the stencil immediately. When the gel is dry it will be clear

4

Fold a piece of paper in half. Place the dry stencilled cardstock with a piece of transfer foil on top coloured-side up inside a card shim. Fold a piece of paper over the top and pass through the laminator
