Free Fabric Flower Tutorials

In addition to sharing what we have to make in the magazine for Mother's Day, we wanted to highlight a few gorgeous ideas from talented bloggers!

sewing tutorial tulips

Sewing blogger Kasia has shared a step by step photo tutorial to make this gorgeous bunch of fabric tulips.  You'll need to get your browser to translate the page, although the photos are actually really easy to understand on their own! Find the tutorial here.

fabric flower tutorial gift idea

There's another really clear step by step tutorial to sew up these fabric flowers, it's by Anj from Snowy Bliss. You could display them like this or in a more traditional vase, a fantastic floral gift idea to sew for mother's day. The stems made from real twigs look great and it's a brilliant use for leftover scraps of dress fabric. Find the free tutorial here

Fabric Covered Vase Tutorials

If you'd rather buy a bunch of real flowers for your Mum or perhaps just pick a perfect bloom from your garden you could try making a fabric covered vase.

fabric vase cover tutorial

We found this simple tutorial for sewing a cover for a flower vase.  The beauty of these fabric vase covers is that you can simply use an old can or even a pint glass to hold the flowers and it won't be seen!  We think you could take this idea to the next level with some embroidery or applique, perhaps a row of little flowers around the vase or something personalised for your mother.

The tutorial can be found on Southern Style Southern Charm

Fabric Covered Spring Vases final

This is a completely no-sew project but we had to share as it looks so pretty and again would be the perfect use for any scraps of leftover fabric you might have, see how they are made here on the blog I Heart Naptime

We'd love to see your spring and Mother's Day themed makes or blog posts, share them with us on our Facebook wall.
