**HOW TO MAKE: **
- Choose a fabric that holds creases well and complements your garment. Lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen work wonderfully for pleats, providing a crisp finish.
- Measure the width of your fabric and decide the desired width of your pleats. Divide the fabric width by the number of pleats you want to create, ensuring even spacing. Mark the pleat positions lightly with a fabric marker or chalk on the wrong side of the fabric suing a straight edge.
- Fold the fabric at the first marked position, bringing the right sides together. Press the fold with a hot iron to set the pleat. Ensure the pleat is parallel to the selvage edge.
- Use straight pins to secure the pleat in place. Insert the pins perpendicular to the fold, making sure they go through all layers of fabric. Space the pins evenly along the pleat to maintain consistency.
- Continue creating pleats by folding the fabric at each marked position. Press and pin each pleat as you go along. Take your time to ensure precision and uniformity.
- With your sewing machine set to a basting stitch (or as long a stitch length as your machine allows), sew along the top edge of the pleats, securing them in place. This temporary stitch will hold the pleats while you work on the rest of the garment.
- Give your pleats a final press with a hot iron. Set the iron on a suitable temperature for your fabric and press over a pressing cloth to protect delicate fabrics.
