This exciting eco-friendly publication combines crafty kid's projects with a resource for them to create and learn to be conscious of their carbon footprint. Featuring a range of multi-crafting projects, from basic papercrafting skills, to embroidery, sewing and gardening - this handy guide also boasts find facts, tips and handy hints on how to be a crafty eco-warrior.
Projects include: bear plant pots, shirt scrunchies, beeswax lunch bags, DIY paint and an egg carton crown (scroll down to find the link to this video tutorial!). There's something for each season and occasion to keep the kid's busy - and with clear instructions, large text and handy diagrams, this book is ideal for kids and adults alike and provides ideas which could be used for kid's parties or play afternoons.
My favourite project in the book has to be Polystyrene Printing project, as it's such an innovative way to reuse a waste product that is hard to recycle and still has many uses in modern catering. This inexpensive craft idea has a world of possibilities to create artwork, greetings cards, gift wrap or fun designs for kid's school books! I'll definitely be giving this idea a go with different media from my stash.
Education is the key for this title, as book highlights the importance of being savvy when it comes to how wasteful crafting can be for the planet. Of course, not everything used in each project is from the bin but for other supplies there is a handy guide on what gets a planet-friendly thumbs up and what to avoid.
I loved this book's exploration of a huge range of crafts, there are so many lessons to learn for everyone about our carbon footprint and how we can get enjoyment from items in our recycling bins!
