Distress Ink Colour Combinations: Part 6

In this new series we will be teaching you everything you need to know about Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink and Distress Oxide Ink. Learn which colours work well together and boost your blending skills to create unique designer backgrounds with ease!

Are you enjoying the series so far? This week, I'm working with four cool tone colours which I have created a night sky inspired by the galaxy. To achieve this technique, it's all about creating pools of colour in different areas, I have started with the lightest tone, working through the darker colours and blending over some areas of the previous colour randomly. Once you've worked with all three colours, you can bring the others back in to create balance. I recommend a smooth white cardstock and make sure that you work the brushes or your sponges in circular motions for an even blend. I've added Black Soot to frame the cardstock and pop in a few small areas to not overwhelm the palette.

For a faux-bleach effect, spritz or flick water onto the background, leave to lift the colour and pat dry. This is where the magic happens to create the night's sky. To finish the card, I've stamped a simple sentiment and added a moon die-cut with accent stars.

I hope you have enjoyed the latest addition to the series, please share your versions of each combination if you have a go!

Happy inking,

Lou
