Whipstitch

The invisible one: Great for garments, accessories, non-bulky seams
Drawbacks: takes a lot of time, stitch matching is a must

Hold work RS tog, with tapestry needle and working front to back thread yarn under 2 sts together, pul.

Bring yarn back to front, thread under next 2 sts tog, pul.

Rep Step 2 to end, fasten off. Use a matching yarn colour to hide the seam.


Mattress Stitch

The quick one: Great for blankets, cushions, toys
Drawbacks: not as neat as other techniques

Hold work RS tog, with tapestry needle and working front to back, thread under the BLO of 2 sts tog, pul.

Work the same in next st, but working from back to front. Rep steps 1 and 2 end, working loosely, then pull the thread gently to ‘fuse’ the edges tog.

This seam should be invisible from the right side of your work.


Double Crochet

Our favourite: Great for texture, blankets
Drawbacks: bulky, uses a lot of yarn

Hold work WS tog, with crochet hook hook under 2 sts tog. Yrh, pul, 1 ch to secure.

Hook from front to back under next 2 sts, yrh, pul, yrh, pul (dc through both layers). Rep to end, fasten off.

You will finish with a clear row of dc on the right side of your work.
