Here at Crochet Now HQ, we’re no stranger to bright and fun projects that are perfect for the summertime. So, with this in mind, we decided to take a trip back to our childhood, with nostalgic makes inspired by sunny days at the beach. Think Brighton Pier, fish and chips and a classic 99 ice cream. All of the patterns this issue feel so joyful, so even if you can’t make it to the seaside this year, we’re bringing it to you!

Our cover garment this issue is the striking Summer Shells vest (page 18) which we’ve all
fallen in love with. It reminds us of paddling our feet in the sea whilst the waves crash into the shores. Your little one won’t be left out of the fun either with our Ships Ahoy tee (page 54), perfect for any aspiring sailors or as a great summer party costume! If you’re really looking for a throwback, we’ve got the Vintage Vacay sweater (page 26); the tapered style of this make is so reminiscent of that iconic 50s look, and when paired with our Seaside Shores bag (page 60) you’ll be ready for a day at the pier.

We’ve got an adorable collection of amigurumi makes this month too, and it just so happens that they’re all learning to swim! Join Rusty the Crab (page 44) and his very best friend Elroy the Elephant (page 30) as they prepare for their first dip. We’re obsessed with Rusty’s armbands and Elroy’s rubber ring – so cute!

The nostalgia doesn’t end there, as we’ve got a special supplement just for you this month, packed with official Sooty patterns and an exclusive set of Sooty hook toppers with a handy crochet hook! Use your hook toppers whilst you whip up the adorable Sooty patterns, we’re loving Alison Holloway’s set of loveys – they’re perfect for new arrivals.
We can’t wait to make some pieces for ourselves in preparation for our summer holidays, and we hope that no matter what your plans are this year, we’re able to bring a little bit of sunshine to your day!

Merry making!
