Who doesn’t have a soft spot for our four-legged and furry friends? We certainly do here at Crochet Now towers, and what better way to celebrate them and channel our joyous relationships with our pets, than through the best squishy craft! Whether it be through a fabulously fun blanket, a terrifically trendy accessory, or an adorable amigurumi, we have something to make you smile this issue.
One of the showstopping designs this issue is Caroline Warren’s Pawesome Blanket. I just love how the little puff stitches work in harmony with the crochet to look like little cat paw prints, padding across a super-soft blanket. For something a little bolder, why not hook up Lisa Hooper’s Hello Sausage cushion (page 38)? It’s so clever how the tapestry crochet is combined into a wraparound motif on the edge of the cushion.
We’re certainly not short of cute toys to crochet this issue, starting with Bernie the Hamster from Alison Holloway – the perfect friend for little ones to cuddle! Our charity cat from Pia Simpson is full of character, and would equally make a fabulous doorstop if you wanted to weigh it down – plus you can used your exclusive crochet hook this month to make them! Finally, give Arlo the Puppy a loving home and support your local yarn shop at the same time by buying the yarn you need from your nearest bricks and mortar store.
It was so much fun curating this issue and working with the designers to come up with these fun animal-inspired designs.
