The weather outside is frightful – but to sit inside and crochet is so delightful, and when it’s as cold and dark as it tends to be in winter, I love to inject as much colour as I can into my favourite craft time. I was inspired this month by the way the light reflections can hit just right, so even in the dullest moments a rainbow might just brighten your day with a glimmer. Have you heard of glimmers? They are little moments in the day that bring you joy, and that’s something I think can’t hurt for us all to watch out for in our days. Speaking of glimmers, hopefully you will find a few throughout this issue of Crochet Now!

Starting with one of my favourite projects this month, the Rainbows Through the Grey blanket (page 14) is a really popular style of crochet that combines a tasteful base with pops of texture and colour. If you want to bring that colour directly into your wardrobe, you’ll feel spoilt for choice from mittens (page 70), a cowl (page 30), or why not go all the way with our cover star (page 20)? Kids can get involved too with an adorable and sweet pinafore dress (page 46) or have some fun at story time with a pair of un-bear-ably cute hand puppets (page 24).

There is plenty to read this month too! Regular favourites Kerry Lord (page 28), Bella Coco Crochet (page 54) and Tea & Chat with the Crochet Society (page 82) make an appearance, alongside some new faces. Say hello to the creators behind fabulous new books, from Mama Made Minis (page 34) to Ashley Parker (page 62). I’m also delighted to feature an article that featured earlier this year in our sister magazine Knit Now about the importance of knitting for every body (page 16).
