This October keep your eyes peeled for a new awesome amigurumi crochet book by debut author Kate McCully, Crochet at Work! As soon we saw this new collection, our minds were cast back to last year when the team at Crochet Now worked with Kate on an exclusive pattern supplement for issue 57 – When I Grow Up. It was with such proud joy we learned that Kate's original six career doll designs helped her on the path to being a published author – congratulations Kate!

Crochet at Work contains 20 fun, customisable dolls to crochet – you can choose the body shape, skin and hair colour, hair style, and outfit. Every doll is dressed in clothing that reflects an aspirational career making them the perfect gifts for little ones who are fantasizing about what they’ll be one day, or how about for a friend who just landed their new dream job? Once you get started however you’ll find your imagination start to grow, inspired by Kate’s fantastic collection, and you’ll be itching to put together your own outfits and careers! How about a back pack for the teacher rather than a satchel? Or why not swap the singer’s ponytail from a Lady Gaga pink to a Taylor Swift blonde?

A choice of multiple body shape options works well if you want to create a family of dolls, or show little ones growing up into their dream roles. We’re delighted to see a diverse representation of skin colour, hair and gender in this collection that is aimed at crocheters of all levels. If you’re a newbie, Kate shows you all the techniques you need to get started a well as step by step guide to working in the round, construction methods and more. If you already know your dc from your BLO then there is nothing stopping you from diving right into the collection and making all the dolls you could possibly want to! Projects include a chef, doctor, vet, explorer, astronaut, soldier, teacher, firefighter and many more – your only limit is your imagination!
