Beautiful Patchwork Flower Pot Quilt

1

From the white fabric cut two 32x64” pieces for the backing. Cut 105 tumblers from the remaining fabric.

2

Using the Big Shot Express die-cutting machine, die-cut six 2” strips from the blue fabric, using the strip die and long plates, and then cut 18 tumblers from the remaining fabric. Cut 18 tumblers from each of the six prints and plain fabric.

3

Beginning with a coloured tumbler, alternately stitch coloured and white tumblers right sides together to make a straight row of 15.

4

Stitch 15 rows, making sure that the colours are mixed in the vertical columns as well as the rows. Press all the seams.

5

Join the rows together (checking that the colours are mixed), matching the centre of the top edge of each tumbler with the centre of the bottom edge of the tumbler in the row above (the uneven sides will be trimmed later). Press.

6

Stitch the two pieces of white backing fabric, right sides together, along one long edge, and press the seam. Layer up the backing right sides down, wadding and top right sides up. Pin or tack through all three layers. Quilt as desired.

7

Trim the backing and the wadding to the same size as the top. Join the binding strips, right sides together to make one long strip. Fold in half along the length with wrong sides together and press fold.

8

Stitch the binding to the top side of the quilt, matching raw edges together, and mitring the corners. Press the binding away from the quilt top. Fold the binding over to the back and slip-stitch the fold to the back of the quilt.
